High-Volume Enterprise Ordering: The L’Artigiano Franchise Engine

Powering multi-branch food delivery and franchise POS dispatch across Greece.

Zero downtime recorded across major UEFA match promotions
<500ms order dispatch to branch kitchen terminals
+45% online order volume growth year-over-year

1. The Engineering Challenge

During major televised sports events, L’Artigiano experiences extreme traffic surges of thousands of orders per minute. Legacy infrastructure collapsed under concurrent DB connections, resulting in lost sales.

2. Architectural Solution

We deployed a Next.js frontend integrated with an automated queueing backend using Redis and CloudFront edge caching. Orders are immediately acknowledged to the customer while queued for kitchen POS dispatch.

Key Technical Architecture Highlights

  • CloudFront CDN edge caching for static assets and branch menu data
  • Redis-backed queueing system protecting database writes during traffic spikes
  • Automated branch geolocation matching and kitchen printer API dispatch
  • Real-time order tracking via WebSocket status updates

3. Business Impact & Results

L’Artigiano handled its highest-volume promotional events in company history with zero website downtime and instantaneous kitchen dispatch.
